Circular Pacific Plastics Project
Empowering Circular Solutions in the Pacific
Project Overview
The Circular Pacific Plastics (CPP) project, developed by ANZPAC and its Members, is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at creating sustainable, regionally tailored end-of-life solutions for plastic packaging in Pacific Island Countries.
This collaborative project connects international brands with local knowledge and decision-makers to overcome challenges in collection and recycling. By identifying and addressing the gaps in waste and recycling infrastructure, CPP lays the foundation for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes, benefiting communities, businesses, and the environment.

The model is resonating with brand owners, delivery partners and funders because CPP:
- Connects brand owners to local delivery agencies that can assist in meeting in country placed on market liabilities and corporate recycling targets.
- Has a ‘point of difference’ with its practical, delivery-focused approach, complementing the strategic and report-based efforts led by governments and donor-based activities in the Pacific.
- Represents an efficient delivery model that can be replicated in other countries via the newly established Pacific Recycling Alliance (PRA), where there is already great interest from partners and funders.
- Is a ‘precursor model’ that can be used to support extended producer responsibility initiatives in the region, furthering the interests of brand owners and supporting regional policy development.
