Plastic Free July is a high-impact global event promoting the minimisation of plastic waste over the month of July across businesses and consumers. This guide is tailored to the unique needs and challenges of the ANZPAC geographies, highlighting regional context, such as regulations and waste management infrastructures. It will assist businesses and packaging manufacturers in eliminating single-use plastic packaging and support avoidance and reduction interventions to tackle the issue of plastic pollution across regional and remote Australia and New Zealand, and Pacific Islands.
This report provides insights into the performance against the ANZPAC 2025 Regional Plastic Targets and how certain system interventions can influence the progress towards the Targets. It evaluates the packaging flows for the ANZPAC region from the point of consumption to collection, sorting, and recovery by using the data obtained for the 2020 ANZPAC Baseline Recyclability Assessment.

This summary report profiles reuse models and assesses their viability across three geographic archetypes. The study found that B2B models are more viable than B2C models, with consumer behavior and infrastructure costs being major challenges.
